Dr. Prabir De
Professor, Research and Information System for Developing Countries, India
Dr. Prabir De is a Professor at the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) in India. He is also the Head of the ASEAN-India Centre (AIC) at RIS and editor of the South Asia Economic Journal. He works extensively in the field of international economics, and has research interests in international trade and development. Previously, he was a Visiting Fellow of the Asian Development Bank Institute, Tokyo and a Visiting Senior Fellow of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, Bangkok.
Dr. De has conducted policy research for the Government of India and various international organisations. He has contributed to several international journals, and written and edited books on trade and development. His recent publications include ‘Celebrating the Third Decade and Beyond: New Challenges of an ASEAN-Indian Economic Partnership’ (Routledge, 2018), ‘Twenty Years of BIMSTEC: Promoting Regional Cooperation and Integration in the Bay of Bengal Region’ (BIMSTEC Secretariat, 2018) and ‘Myanmar’s Integration with the World: Challenges and Policy Options’ (Palgrave, 2017). He holds a PhD in Economics from the Jadavpur University, Calcutta.
